December 2008 US T-Bonds: Bulls and Bears Struggle for Control

by Jim Wyckoff

december 2008 us t bonds chart

December U.S. Treasury bond futures have seen choppy and volatile trading in recent weeks, as the financial market crisis worldwide plays out. On days when the U.S. stock market is very strong, the bond market bears make headway with lower T-Bond prices. When stocks are lower, the bond market bulls generally see solid price gains in T-Bonds. See on the daily bar chart for December T-Bonds that both the bulls and the bears have some technical ammunition. For the bears, T-Bonds are in a choppy downtrend from the September contract high. For the T-Bond bulls, see on the daily chart that recent price action has formed a bullish pennant pattern. Bulls and bears are doing heated battle at present, with neither making a lot of headway. A push in December T-Bonds below the solid longer-term technical support level seen on the chart would provide the bears with fresh downside near-term technical momentum. A push in T-Bonds above the resistance level seen on the chart would provide the bulls with some fresh upside near-term technical momentum.

Jim has an EXCELLENT daily newsletter where he reviews different markets, alerts you for potential trades and much more. Included is his great bi-weekly newsletter with charts and a little longer term outlook. We recommend checking out his website, educational CDROM, and services at JimWyckoff.com
